Structural Integration is a specialized form of bodywork that creates lasting change in the body—reducing chronic tension, improving movement, and helping you feel more balanced and aligned. It works with the deeper layers of muscle and fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles, joints, and organs) to restore healthier patterns of posture and movement.
Indigo integrates posture, gait, and range-of-motion assessments with targeted hands-on work using myofascial and neuromuscular techniques. Pressure is applied slowly and intentionally so the tissues can relax rather than resist, allowing deeper layers to release without unnecessary discomfort. Sessions may also include tools such as a massage gun when appropriate.
Because this work aims to address root causes—not just symptoms—Structural Integration is best approached as a focused series of sessions. Many clients come weekly at first to build on progress before their body returns to old patterns. Sessions typically emphasize one or two areas rather than a full-body treatment so deeper, more meaningful change can occur.
After each session, Indigo will reassess posture and mobility and share helpful guidance such as stretches, corrective exercises, or daily habit adjustments to support continued improvement. Lotion is used minimally due to the nature of the work, and while some discomfort may occur in tense areas, pain is generally not expected.
Structural Integration considers the whole body—not only where symptoms appear—so treatment can address the true sources of dysfunction and support long-term relief.
75 minutes: at least 60 minutes hands-on
90 minutes: at least 75 minutes hands-on
120 minutes: at least 105 minutes hands-on
May include: massage gun, foam roller, T-bar or fascial tools, thumb savers, stretching, and muscle-activation techniques.
Structural Integration uses a precise, goal-oriented approach focused on releasing deeper tension patterns, lengthening and repositioning fascia, and improving posture and movement. Sessions typically focus on targeted areas rather than full-body work, and each client receives a personalized plan based on their needs and functional goals.
“Deep tissue” refers to working with deeper layers—not necessarily using heavy pressure. Indigo uses slow, adaptive techniques that allow deeper structures to open without pain. Some areas may feel intense or achy, but discomfort is usually minimal and often feels like a deep stretch rather than traditional deep-tissue massage.
Form-fitting, non-restrictive clothing (such as a sports bra and biker shorts) is ideal for the initial movement assessment. You will still be draped with a sheet during hands-on work unless specific clothing is needed to maintain comfort or modesty.
Structural Integration sessions may include cupping for 90-minute and 2-hour appointments. Hot stones, aromatherapy, and CBD are not offered due to the minimal-lotion requirement of this work.
Structural Integration is not offered for pregnant clients or minors.
Rolfing is one specific branded approach within the broader field of Structural Integration. While both focus on fascia and whole-body alignment, Structural Integration incorporates multiple techniques and methods rather than following the Rolfing Ten-Series.
