LMT Spotlight: Lexye

Licensed Massage Therapist Spotlight - Lexye

Meet Lexye, our skilled massage therapist at Renew Massage Studio, serving both our Denver and Golden locations. Lexye graduated from the Berkana Institute of Massage Therapy in 2014 and has developed a unique massage style characterized by spreading and slow, focused strokes. She expertly incorporates pin/stretch techniques and dynamic movements throughout her sessions, ensuring that each massage is both therapeutic and deeply relaxing.

Lexye’s passion for massage therapy began while working in a nursing home, where she observed firsthand how maintaining one’s body can lead to a more comfortable aging process. This experience inspired her to help people improve their movement and posture through massage. Lexye combines the art of bodywork with the science of human anatomy to provide thoughtful, intuitive, and elongating massages that cater to your specific needs.

What inspired you to become a massage therapist?
I fondly remember giving my mom scalp massages as a child whenever she suffered from headaches. She always mentioned how effective they were and suggested that I had a natural knack for it. This early experience sparked my interest, and her encouragement really planted the seed for my career. She often joked that I should consider doing it professionally, and looking back, it feels like she saw my path before I did!

What is your favorite modality or service to perform?
I truly enjoy blending various techniques—deep tissue, Swedish, and sports massage into a cohesive session that’s both flowy and therapeutic. This integrative approach allows me to tailor the massage to the specific needs of each client, ensuring they receive the most benefit. It’s like creating a personalized therapy session where the client’s body dictates the course of the treatment.

What kind of massage do you like to receive?
Personally, I gravitate towards myofascial release and deep tissue massages. These techniques really help in addressing the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue, which is perfect for someone like me who is active and often in need of deep muscle recovery.

What do you love about being a massage therapist?
The most rewarding part of my job is making clients aware of areas where they are unknowingly holding stress. Many don’t realize the physical manifestations of their stress until they’re on my table. By helping them connect with these areas, I facilitate a process where they can begin to address not only their physical discomfort but often emotional stress as well. It’s incredibly fulfilling to aid in this journey towards self-awareness and healing.

Lexye was friendly yet professional, used the perfect amount of pressure, and gave me helpful tips on how to strengthen my back and reverse some of the tension caused by my job. I would highly recommend Lexye and Renew Massage Studio!

How did you get into massage and bodywork?
Initially, I was on a path to enter nursing, drawn by a desire to help and heal others. However, I soon realized that my passion was more aligned with preventative care. The idea of helping people maintain their health rather than treating illness resonated deeply with me, leading me to pursue a career in massage therapy as a proactive approach to well-being.

What does a typical session with you consist of?
Each session starts with a conversation to understand the client’s current concerns and goals. Based on this, I create a tailored plan. I believe in setting the right ambiance, so I carefully select music that enhances the relaxing atmosphere. The session includes grounding techniques, gentle warm-ups for the focus areas, followed by more intensive techniques and stretching to address deeper issues. I conclude with soothing strokes to ensure clients leave feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.

When you’re out having fun, what are you doing?
I’m quite an outdoorsy person, so you might find me hiking or running through local trails. I also enjoy practicing yoga, which complements my professional practice by keeping me physically and mentally balanced. Traveling is another passion; exploring new places always provides fresh perspectives and rejuvenates my spirit.

How do you prioritize self-care and well-being as a massage therapist?
Daily yoga is essential for me; it helps maintain my flexibility and mental clarity. I aim to receive a massage at least once a month, though I ensure to keep up with regular stretching routines to compensate when that’s not possible. Self-care is crucial in this profession, as it allows me to give my best to my clients while maintaining my own health and well-being.
