What inspired you to become a massage therapist?

I’ve always been drawn to helping people feel their best, and massage therapy felt like the perfect way to make a meaningful difference in others lives.

What is your favorite modality or service to perform?

I like a mix of Swedish and deep tissue because it allows me to target problem areas and help clients experience lasting relief, while still aiming to be relaxing.

What kind of massage do you like to receive?

I love receiving Thai massages. It’s fun, engaging, and I always walk out feeling a foot taller

What do you love about being a massage therapist?

I love seeing the transformation in my clients, whether it’s relieving pain, helping them de-stress, or improving mobility. Assisting people to feel or function better is incredibly rewarding.

How did you get into massage and bodywork?

I had my first experience with massage while seeking relief for chronic tension and stress. Its brought such a huge improvement to my own life and it inspired me to pursue this career.

What does a typical session with you consist of?

I start with a quick consultation to understand my client’s needs and goals for the session and tailor the massage to what their body needs that day with a blend of techniques like deep tissue, trigger point therapy, or relaxation focused work.

Do you have any success stories over the years of being a massage therapist?

Being able to help my husband is one of the most rewarding views of success to me. Whether its to help him recover after intense sporting competitions, or relieving tension headaches, I love being able to support his overall well-being.

When you’re out having fun, what are you doing?

I’m usually out with my family, enjoying time together. We love discovering new experiences like exploring exciting places, trying different foods, or finding something fun and unexpected to do.

How do you prioritize self-care and well-being as a massage therapist?

Staying hydrated, stretching, and setting aside time for myself to unwind. Some of my favorite me-time activities are bath bomb soaks, journaling, and coloring.

Success to me means meeting or exceeding my clients goals and earning their trust

What inspired you to become a massage therapist?

I was close to graduating with a bachelors degree that I wasn’t sure what to do with. In that same time frame I had received my first two massages ever, from my neighbor. During one of the sessions I was letting her know about my indecision about next steps, and she said, “I think you should go to massage therapy school. You really seem to ‘get this’ work!.” It deeply struck a chord in me, and I knew that this was a calling.

What is your favorite modality or service to perform?

Every modality I’ve practiced has been my favorite at one time or another. I find myself incorporating different modalities as a dominant theme for several weeks to several months before another wave of a different modality comes up and sweeps me into the next season of my massage practice.

What kind of massage do you like to receive?

I let my body decide on any given day. It will inform me of what type of massage I should ask my therapist to give me.

What do you love about being a massage therapist?

I love the rapid change for the better that can happen during a massage session. I also love being able to form connections with people in a nurturing and practical way.

What does a typical session with you consist of?

At the beginning of a typical session, I will ask the client what has brought them in that day. I want to know what their goals are for this treatment. If they’re new to massage, I’ll let them know what to expect and how we will get started with the session. During a quick palpation assessment I’ll determine what the most effective flow will be for that session.

Do you have any success stories over the years of being a massage therapist?

Success to me means meeting or exceeding my clients goals and earning their trust, repeat business, and referrals from them. I’m happy to say that I’ve had many clients that have made me a success based on those standards.

When you’re out having fun, what are you doing?

I love to keep my body moving. Hiking and dancing are two of my favorite ways to spend my free time.

How do you prioritize self-care and well-being as a massage therapist?

I make sure that I stretch nightly before I go to bed to keep myself limber and my muscles relaxed. I also ensure that I have space in my schedule each week for my private quiet time.

What inspired you to become a massage therapist?
I became a massage therapist because I have always been interested in working in a profession that allows me to be involved in athletics. I have been carrying back pain as well and this is another reason why I was interested in working with the body.

What is your favorite type of massage to give and receive?
My favorite is therapeutic massage. In terms of modality, I do like the elements of Thai Massage. I like receiving therapeutic work as well since the profession requires me to be feeling good.

What do you love most about being a massage therapist?
I love to see my clients happy and relaxed at the end of the session. That drives me to keep providing the best service I can.

What got you interested in receiving massages initially?
In terms of why I first got interested in receiving massage, I was trying to try a new way to alleviate pain I was having.

What can clients expect from a session with you?
A session with me consists of checking in on how my client is feeling and what needs to be addressed. You can expect some stretches with my background in Thai Massage, and you might enjoy my slow pace too. I can give a good firm pressure, but I can always go as light as needed.

Can you share a memorable moment from your career so far?
Some of my favorite moments so far are helping a client finally go to sleep comfortably after weeks of pinched nerve pain; and working on a client who was initially not aware that I was a male, but after giving me a chance, the client complimented me that I have such soft hands and the massage was better than any she has ever had, even though she frequently receives one at a famous hotel in Colorado Springs!

What are some of your hobbies outside of work?
Watching various soccer (football) games and going on quiet drives.

How do you take care of yourself to prevent injury as a massage therapist?
I have noticed how easily I can get hurt from giving massage. I personally feel that I’m a bit more injury prone than others, so that potential threat of getting hurt motivates me to take care of myself. Every night, I go through a whole body stretching/foam rolling routine. I plan on improving my eating habits and fitness as well. Mentally, I tell myself not to stress about things I have no control over such as other people’s driving habits and traffic.
