Therapist Spotlight: Maura
1. What are 3-5 words to describe your massage style?
Intuitive, therapeutic, energetic, deep, and stretching.
2. How did you get into massage and bodywork?
Ever since I was young, I always wanted to become a Massage Therapist. After my yoga teacher training and learning energy work, I became fascinated with anatomy and wanted to study more about the human body and better serve the community!
3. What would you describe as your massage specialty?
Intuitive deep tissue – working with injuries, and cranial sacral therapy. I strongly believe pairing breathwork with massage creates profound change in the body, mind, and spiritual level.
4. What are your areas of training?
Yoga nidra – a deep relaxation meditation technique, sports massage, chakra balancing, reflexology, acupressure, structural, trigger point, Swedish, cupping, acupressure, injury, cranial sacral therapy, and hatha yoga.
5. What does a typical session with “Maura” consist of?
Getting to know her client’s needs and appropriately matching depth of pressure to their comfort. Using slow, mindful, intentional strokes to release trigger points and muscle tension. By pairing pranayama breathing with massage, this allows her clients to relax more and drop deeper into the parasympathetic nervous system.
6. What do you love about being a massage therapist?
Being able to assist people on their healing journey and encourage their bodies back into alignment!
